Defenestration [Noun.]


  1. The act of throwing something, or someone, out of a window. First recorded in the Biblical book of Kings II, Jezebel was defenestrated at Jezreel by her own servants at the urging of Jehu. ‘And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.’ (II Kings 9:33)
  2. (British English) High profile removal of a person from an organization.
  3. (Neologism, Humorous) The act of removing the Microsoft Windows operating system from a computer in order to install an alternative one.
