On Teaching

“I have never, in all my life, done anything as hard – just in terms of tiring, and exhausting, and mind and body consuming – as teaching. It is one of the most extraordinarily hard jobs you could ever do.”

– Stephen Fry

  1. Amen to this! Even as a semi-retired psychology instructor, I spend many of my waking hours preparing for my online classes, reading and responding to discussion posts, grading assignments, tweaking “stuff,” figuring out how to help my students “get it,” and so on. You have to love it to stay with it (and to be any good at it)!

  2. Thank you. I have some experience with teaching as well. Stephen Fry also, he mainly taught Latin at a British public school in his student-days.
