We All Know Less Than We Think We Know

That’s what ‘general ignorance’ means. Cultivate humility and a sense of mystery. ‘The wise man knows that he knows nothing’ (Socrates, again). Despite what some scientific fundamentalists tell us, we still don’t know how or why the universe began, what consciousness or light are, or even “the best” way to bring up our children.

“Any fool can know. The point is to understand.” – Albert Einstein

  1. And that’s a good thing. The quest for knowledge, for truth, for meaning, to know the whats, the whens, the hows, the whys, has kept Humankind moving forward for a million years. The day we have all of the answers, is the day Humanity begins to stagnate and wither away. We were never meant for Eden.

  2. Humility I’ll go along with, its a fitting stance for us all. Knowledge inflates and that can blind vision. Certainty is often wrong. Mystery I’m less happy with it can become a way if life and create an unwillingness to acceed to truth.
I take you to mean materialists by scientific fundamentalists.
Well the how we are slowly resolving the why is outside the realm of science but we can still tackle it.
