Calvin: This whole Santa Claus thing just doesn’t make sense. Why all the secrecy? Why all the mystery? If the guy exists why doesn’t he ever show himself and prove it? And if he doesn’t exist what’s the meaning of all this?
Hobbes: I dunno. Isn’t this a religious holiday?
Calvin: Yeah, but actually, I’ve got the same questions about God.
Then there’s Pascal’s Wager —

And forgiveness —

Note the line of Calvin’s father, I love the ambiguity surrounding Hobbes’ existence.
I did, and I wasn’t entirely sure what he was saying. I couldn’t decide if he meant it literally, or if he meant it idiomatically, implying that something wasn’t quite right, that something smelled “fishy.”
BTW – Merry Christmas, Kuba! Or Happy Winter Solstice, whichever you prefer – today is two minutes longer than yesterday!
You too, may your holidays be fun, relaxing and interesting ;)
